1、What is the difference between thermal film and thermal paper?
Thermal paper uses wood pulp paper as substrate, easy to tear, absorb water and fade when contacting oil or alcohol. Thermal film takes PP plastic film as base material, tear-proof, waterproof, oil-resistant and durable. Both support direct thermal printing without ribbon, but thermal film is suitable for humid, cold and liquid-contact scenarios.
2、Can thermal film labels be used for frozen food and cold storage?
Yes. Our standard thermal film with water-based acrylic adhesive supports long-term frozen environment use. It can resist frost and condensed water without curling or peeling off bottle surfaces. If you need ultra-low temperature storage below -20℃, we can customize special cold-resistant adhesive for you.
3、Does thermal film require carbon ribbon during printing?
No. This is direct thermal film material, only compatible with direct thermal printers, no ribbon is needed. If you need long-term light fastness (more than 1 year storage), we suggest you choose thermal transfer PET film with ribbon printing.
4、What roll widths of thermal film raw material can you supply?
Our jumbo raw rolls are available in standard widths 1200mm and 600mm. We provide free slitting service to cut wide rolls into any custom narrow width according to your label size requirements. Both small finished rolls and large bulk jumbo rolls are acceptable.
5、Is thermal BOPP film waterproof and oil resistant?
Yes. The whole sheet is covered with PP plastic film layer, completely waterproof, oil-proof and anti-alcohol. It will not soak and deform when splashed with water, edible oil or disinfectant alcohol.
6、Can we do flexographic color printing on thermal film?
Yes, flexo printing is fully supported. But please avoid alcohol-based ink which will destroy the thermal color coating. We recommend UV ink or water-based ink and varnish for pre-printing. It is better to test ink compatibility before mass production.
7、Will the printed text and barcode fade quickly on thermal film?
All direct thermal products will slowly fade under long-term direct sunlight or continuous high temperature above 50℃. Our thermal film adopts high image retention coating, which slows down fading speed greatly. If your products need more than 12 months storage, thermal transfer silver PET film is a better choice.
8、Do you offer custom slitting and sample service for thermal film rolls?
We support customized slitting, different thickness/gsm adjustment and custom adhesive matching. Free sample rolls are available for your printing test, you only need to cover the courier freight cost.
9、What liner do you use for this thermal film sticker stock?
Standard configuration is 60gsm white glassine release liner, smooth peeling performance, stable during die-cutting and automatic labeling. Custom kraft liner or thicker liner can be customized upon request.
10、Is this thermal film safe for food packaging?
The material can be used for indirect outer packaging labels of food, cosmetics and medical products. It cannot be directly attached to food, liquid medicine or edible contents.
